National Doctor’s Day 2021: Facts you Need to Know about the Day

Every year, July 1 is observed as National Doctors’ Day and is organized by the Indian Medical Association (IMA). It is dedicated to all the doctors and healthcare workers who have been serving people by risking their lives. The day holds a special significance considering the fact how our doctors and physicians are working hard to help the country fight the health crisis in this pandemic. As we celebrate this day, check out some facts about the day:
July 1 marks the birth, as well as the death anniversary of one of the most renowned physicians in India, Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy.

The Government of India formally dedicated the day to be celebrated as National Doctor’s Day first time in 1991 as a mark of respect to Roy.

The day is not just celebrated in India but also in different countries, but on different dates. In the US it is observed on March 30, in Cuba on December 3.
