Coca- Cola's Unique Concept Turned Wrong

Oct 17, 2018

Coca-Cola is one of the most popular beverage brands, from past few years the company has brought many unique changes in its production. Recently they came out with a new concept of combining two different languages to make it more interesting but unfortunately, the tables turned wrong. They tried to put out a fancy message in Maori, on one of their vending machines saying 'Kia ora'. 'Kia ora' is commonly translated as 'hello' in Maori, while 'mate' means 'buddy' in English. However, the word 'mate' means 'death' in te reo M?ori! The message in English and Maori now reads 'Hello, Death' - certainly not the message customers would want to read while reaching for a drink!
