Do you know refrigerating chocolates spoils them?

Feb 02, 2018

It might sound weird, but yes by refrigerating the chocolates, you are ruining its taste. Recently a study pointed out how refrigeration actually dulls the taste of chocolate! The perfect temperature to store this sweet treat is 15 degrees C and one must store it in some cool and dark cupboard that is between 10 to 20 degrees C. Here is how you might be ruining that bar of decadence:

It absorbs odours

Chocolate easily absorbs odours of whatever is in the fridge. Think, when you want that rich chocolate taste and you get garlic or onion smell! Store in an airtight box to avoid this!

Moisture leads to sugar bloom

The sugar rises on the surface and discolors the chocolate if kept for long in the fridge. You must have seen a white layer on it if you take them out after a long time.

Makes it dull

Chilling chocolates makes it dull as after freezing for long they lose the real flavour.

Store in airtight container

It is recommended to store them in an airtight container as it saves its taste from ruining.

Freezing reduces its life

If you are freezing your chocolates do not keep them in the fridge for long. Keep only for a shorter time and eat them as soon as possible.
