Lion King is Not an Original Content

Jul 24, 2019

Almost every 90’s kid is aware of the movie Lion King as it is the most popular animated film of that time and again, fans got crazy after seeing the new live-action remake of it. It has created a lot of buzz on the internet as almost after 25 years Lion King is back on screen. Though it’s really good to see this new version but a Japanese animator had already made a similar film back in 1960s.

According to a Twitter user, @boopyape, Disney, who claim that The Lion King was original content, had actually taken inspiration from Osamu Tezuka, a Japanese animator.

The Twitter user wrote, "Osamu Tezuka, a Japanese animator, created the anime, "Kimba the White Lion," in 1965. Disney claims they knew nothing about Tezuka & prided that the Lion King was original content. 'While others search for what they can take, a true king searches for what he can give.' - Mufasa."They even added a video to the tweet to compare the characters from Kimba and The Lion King, and the resemblance is uncanny.

Immediately the tweet went viral and many users were shocked by it and expressed their anger.
