White House’s Christmas Decorations are now a Meme

Nov 29, 2018

Christmas is less than a month away, and US First Lady Melania Trump recently revealed the decorations made for the festive season at the white house. After choosing the white theme for Christmas last year, the décor this year is done with huge red trees. While some feel it looks like something out of The Shining or Jaws, others it reminded them of Margret Atwood’s ‘Handmaid’s Tale’. Check out their reactions below:

Melania Trump tweeted a video showing her surveying the holiday decorations, which also included an ornament emblazoned with the slogan for her well-being campaign for children called Be Best.

However, people on Twitter are criticizing Trump’s choice of scary trees for the decorations. Many related the theme to Russian influence, and others connected it with a reflection of the horror in the country due to Trump.

Check out how people reacted to the decorations:

The decorations at the White House also include a tree trimmed by Gold Star families, those killed in military service, as well as an array of topiary trees and mantelpieces featuring the skylines of New York City, St. Louis, Chicago and San Francisco.
