Tips to Make Perfect Modaks

Ganesh Chaturthi is finally here though every year Lord Ganesha’s arrival is celebrated with great pomp and show but, this year because of the pandemic it is a low key affair. But no matter how big or small the celebration is without modaks the celebrations are incomplete. So we tell you some handy tips to make the special treat.

To get the texture of the dough right and to get a mixture without cracks and non-sticky, sprinkle a little warm water and knead it again.

When making modaks, always use freshly grated coconut.

Keep the dough covered with a damp cloth until used up.

Always cover the modaks with a damp cloth.

Put the modaks in a steamer for not more than 10 minutes.

Avoid moulds and flatten each dough ball to form a modak shape with the palms.

Modaks can stay fresh for up to a day at room temperature.
