Lathmar Holi

In this festival in Barsana, women beat men of Nandgaon village with lathis (sticks) as it is said that once Lord Krishna visited his beloved Radha in Barsana and teased her friends who chased him with sticks. After that it became a tradition.

Thimithi, Tamil Nadu

Here worshippers walk barefoot on burning coal to honor their goddess. It takes place in between October and November every year.

Thaipoosam, Tamil Nadu

In this festival devotees pierce their lips with spears, pierce mouth with sharp metal objects and hook their skin to chains.

Jallikattu, Tamil Nadu

In this people try to control bulls and many even get injured while doing so.
