Ways to Preserve Fruits and Vegetables in Lockdown

May 05, 2020

At this time of lockdown, everyone wants to stock up on food items. While we can easily stock the packaged food, it is difficult to preserve fresh fruits and vegetables. There is limited storage in the refrigerators to keep veggies and fruits so you need to consume them on time which is why we tell you some ways to preserve fruits and vegetables

• We recommend you boil vegetables like peas, broccoli, and beans and freeze them

• Before storing leafy vegetables, rinse them first and then dry and wrap in a paper towel so that the moisture is absorbed. Then refrigerate them in a sealed plastic bag.

• If your fruits are getting bad, then juice them and store in airtight glass containers. Banana can be stored directly into the fridge.

• If you have half-cut fruit like papaya or watermelon, cover it with a plastic sheet to keep it fresh.

• Rather than storing the milk and other dairy food at the door of the fridge. It is advisable to store them at the back of the area. The temperature there is comparatively low.

• To keep tomatoes, potatoes, onion, and garlic fresh, keep them at room temperature.

• Wrap coriander and mint leaves in a plastic bag to keep them fresh
